I have to say, this has to be one of my favorites, I love how you took a character and played around with him in such a manner to work with your own style. I'm going to first off, start with the background. I'm an aerial type of person, I love the sky (which you know) and I feel the need to point out that, that background is extremely realistic. Especially in the area around the sun, the light reflects off of and around the clouds makes it really stand out as if they really are there. There's volume and contrast, shadows and highlights, they just look like fluffy nice clouds. Now I note though, that the way the clouds appear near the dragon appear more like that of a hurricane or tornado to be honest. I'm not sure if that's the intent, or you're trying to make it appear like it's right there. But to me it looks like a hurricane.
The dragon itself is incredibly detailed and quite honestly, magnificent. The details on the outside of the wings are quite stunningly done and I really love them and how they look. The wings are well proportioned and lifelike, they're very befitting to him.
I enjoy the scaling you chose and worked out for him, as well as how the light on his fur. I enjoy everything about this picture and I hope to see more. I hope you enjoyed working on him because it showed a lot of you wondrous abilities. Keep up the good work.
