:new: Edit I made some retouches.
My Part of an Art Trade with :iconsvartyaninfernalis: Her character Svartyan. I was asked to put her in a setting that was either something burning, or in the night.....soo here is what I came up with. Hope you all like. 38 Hours of work and I'm pleased with the result.

Hope you like what I've done with Svartyan, she was a lot of fun to draw.

I love the atmosphere and the composition of the piece. However there are some things that could probably be adjusted. The dragon's neck looks oddly thin at the base and thicker toward the head. The torso is also very thick and to the front while his limbs look a bit short and thin in proportion to the rest.

The lighting on the dragon's surfaces facing the lava pool, I think, could use a sharper light on them and the topside shadows could be darker to give more of the sharp contrast that environment would make.

I do like the faint indication of a vapor trail as if he's dragging through the fumes the lava is kicking up.

i really love the pose and the scene.the dragon is very well done with good anatomy. the shading makes its muscles stand out. the ings and the head are very well done and those ar what i thibj is the greates parts of the dragon. the background is very well done, and you get the scence of the scene, ii do have to agree wth ~AssassinGirlz on the fact that the dragon doesnt seem to be moving. and one more thing is that the feet seem very short, but it may have to do with the perspective you get.

otherwise i love this artwork, its beautiful :)

The background itself is what sells this for me. The violent, molten shifting of the Earth will always look beautiful to me.

I am honored you like the Background. It was the first time I've drawn volcanoes and lava, I had a lot of fun with the two. :D
